What is the cost?

The current fee is £45.00

A session is 50 mins long

How long will the process take?

The way psychotherapy works will depend on a personality type of a client and a therapist and presenting issues that they bring forward. It is difficult to predict the exact duration of treatment. You might want to work on a specific issue (short-term) or see a benefit of working in an open-ended way, which allows a wider and deeper exploration over a longer period of time. My only recommendation is for you to allow for 6 sessions initially to make the best evaluation of the process.

How often do I need to come?

Sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis. Therapy is a mutual commitment and weekly consistent attendance is vital to the progress of the work and to honour therapeutic relationship between us. Anything less than weekly sessions do not carry the same benefits.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

There are some subtle differences between counselling and psychotherapy and often these terms are used interchangeably.
In general counselling is a shorter-term arrangement for a specified number of sessions where we work on a specific issue.

Psychotherapy looks at your life, your inner world in a wider sense. It is a deeper exploration and looking at, perhaps, more persistent difficulties and patterns, which is a longer-term, open ended work.

We arrange a convenient time to meet for a consultation where you will have a chance to get a feel for the venue and the way I work. It will also allow me assess your needs and requirements and see if I am the right therapist for you. If on the initial assessment I feel you might be better served in a different set-up and environment I would then make an appropriate recommendation for you at the time of our assessment. Not everyone is suitable for talking therapies. This session is an opportunity for both of us to decide if we can work together.
